Mass production of carbon dioxide-based new biodegradable plastics

Recently, from the Changchun Yinghua Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the team of the researcher Wang Xianhong has achieved industrial production of carbon dioxide-based biodegradable plastics for 20 years. Currently, it has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons. As of press time, the team has The 5,000-acre farmland in the country 'wears' carbon dioxide-based biodegradable agricultural mulch film, and the farmland test results are good.

'We will increase our efforts to promote the market. If the scale of industrialization reaches 300,000 tons/year, the cost will be further reduced.' Wang Xianhong said. It is reported that Jilin 300,000 tons/year carbon dioxide-based biodegradable plastic project was launched on April 19 this year. The company was officially launched in the Jilin Chemical Industry Circular Economy Demonstration Zone. The total investment is 3 billion yuan. The project covering an area of 180,000 square meters is based on the second generation catalyst of carbon dioxide-based biodegradable plastics developed by Wang Xianhong and the latest synthetic technology.

Carbon dioxide is the main 'culprit' of the greenhouse effect, but it is also a low-cost carbon resource. It can be used as a raw material to synthesize carbon dioxide-based biodegradable plastics. The degradation products are environmentally friendly and have low production costs. Since 1997, The Changchun Yinghua Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences began to apply basic research on the application of carbon dioxide-based biodegradable materials. 'The synthesis of carbon dioxide-based biodegradable materials is not difficult in principle. The difficulty lies in how to develop high-activity catalysts to synthesize high molecular weight carbon dioxide-based plastics. Low-cost modification allows this material to have optimal performance. ' Wang Xianhong said.

In 1997, the research team developed the first generation of catalyst technology, namely the rare earth three-way catalyst technology; after three years of research and development, the world's first 1000-ton carbon dioxide copolymer pilot line was built; in October 2004, it was developed. Multi-copolymer new rare earth catalyst and new technology of strengthening cross-linking; in 2007, a modern industrial production unit of 5000 tons/year of carbon dioxide-based plastic was built in Hainan, and the whole process was completed in December 2010.

Since then, through technical cooperation with a number of companies, after repeated trials, the team completed the industrialization process design of high-molecular-weight carbon dioxide-based biodegradable plastics with excellent performance in 2014. The results were supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Science Fund. , obtained 2 US patents, 1 Japanese patent, and 27 Chinese invention patents, forming a complete independent intellectual property rights.

At present, the carbon dioxide-based biodegradable plastic has been mass-produced, with an annual industrial production capacity of 50,000 tons. The product can be used to prepare plastic bags, express packaging, etc. At the same time, the film made of this material has passed the scientific research institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 4. The film test for 4 consecutive years is expected to provide a new breakthrough for solving the residual pollution of farmland film.
