Asian supply of acetone and phenol will tighten

On November 5th, the spot availability of acetone and phenol in Asian markets is likely to decrease as some suppliers are seeking to negotiate with European buyers.

After Octavia phenol company announced force majeure on production facilities in Germany and Belgium, the arbitrage window from Asia to Europe may open.

According to a company source, the lower water level of the Rhine, coupled with the unplanned shutdown of two external cumene suppliers from INEOS Phenol, resulted in a reduction in the production of INEOS Phenol's plants in Germany and Belgium.
