Solvay launches polyamide for personal protection, vehicle safety systems for the first time

Based on high-purity specialty formulations and cleansing compounds, Solvay Performance Technologies is planning to introduce six Technyl and Technyl Star polyamides.

Two of these levels use bio- and environmentally-friendly Technyl eXten technology for high temperature, glycol resistant environments. The series will be available in early 2019.

'The main cause of galvanic corrosion is that halogens contain phosphorus and phosphorus. Current corrosion can cause system failures and short circuits, and even cause fires,' said James Mitchell, director of automotive marketing at Solvay Performance Technologies. .

'Safety should not be an option!' We have developed a range of high purity materials to help OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in the automotive industry to ensure that the system is protected from corrosion and ion migration.

These solutions are suitable for automotive applications including electrified cooling systems, sensors and connectors, and high-power electric car chargers.

As for fuel cell components, Technyl One has become the material of choice because Technyl One offers customers more value in terms of performance and processing than PPA compounds.

The material has an ion transfer potential close to zero, good heat resistance, dimensional stability, insulation, high surface quality and solderability.

'This is the first PA 66-based material on the market specifically designed for fuel cell technology. This product is suitable for important safety applications such as hydrogen manifolds, heating plates, humidifiers and dehydrators.' Mitchell added.

In addition to these advanced material solutions, Solvay also offers a complete set of technical services designed to accelerate the launch of new applications.

Technical services include predictive simulations from MMI Technyl Design, 3D printing of Sinterline PA6 powder functional prototypes, and component testing at the APT Technyl Verification Center in Lyon, France and Shanghai, China. MMI Technyl Design is an e-Xstream Digimat from MSC Software. Software-supported advanced services.
