At the new Risi Asia Pacific Sanitary Products Industry Forum, Saudi Basic Industries launched an innovative polypropylene resin product that provides excellent performance characteristics for nonwovens produced with fused spray fibers. This new product is SABIC®PP514M12, a potential use that can diversify personal hygiene products and other market areas, and is the first product of a family of highly mobile resin compound products.
Two years ago, SABIC officially launched the development of this product, which is expected to be fully on the market by the end of 2018. Current challenges to the personal hygiene market and higher levels of consumer demand have prompted partners across the health supplies value chain to accelerate the R & amp; d process and introduce more innovative product solutions. SABIC is committed to turning challenges into opportunities, while striving to accurately predict future market trends and market dynamics, and introduce more new products for smart applications. The Risi Asia Pacific Sanitary Products Industry Forum, held in Xiamen, China, from October 24, 2018 to 26th, represented more than 160 industry-leading companies from around the world.
At that time, Sabic will also make a keynote speech at this forum. The development of SABIC®PP 514M12 materials is based on a technology that does not contain phthalates and has no odor. This technology provides good processability, ductility, spinnability and uniformity for molten spray fibers.
Nonwovens produced with this material combine to achieve a perfect combination of high barrier and high hygroscopic breathability in an ultra-thin, lightweight, high-performance fiber mesh structure, resulting in significant improvements in comfort and reduced material consumption. Due to the final melting flow index of the fused fiber produced by sabic®pp 514M12 ﹥1000 g/10 minutes, this fiber undoubtedly creates unique potential processing opportunities for ultra-light ultra-thin non-woven fabrics that require comfortable wearable, good breathability and excellent barrier performance. Fabric products based on SABIC®PP514M12 polymers exhibit better moisture absorption and barrier resistance in hydrostatic pressure testing.
Hydrostatic pressure testing is a standard that is often required in the specification of SMS (SpunBond/Melt/SpunBond) non-woven products used in the application area of sanitary products. In addition, since the SABIC®PP 514M12 polymer is a single material technology that does not contain phthalates, it can provide higher purity and good consumer convenience than the molten spray resin and the base mixture currently available on the market.
The product form of this polymer resin is regular spherical particles, which are conducive to operation, storage and use. Today, the personal hygiene industry is constantly looking for a wide range of advanced material solutions to help major manufacturers further enhance consumer safety and convenience, product functionality and environmental friendliness, and improve cost control. SABIC's innovative polypropylene products for melt-blown fiber applications address these challenges while meeting stringent product hygiene, safety and consumer protection standards.
' SABIC®PP 514M12 materials can be customized according to the customer's individual requirements or the needs of specific applications. Sabic has worked with a professional machinery manufacturer to conduct a number of production experiments to successfully use new fused polypropylene for mass production on the latest high-speed machines. These tests further confirm that sabic®pp 514M12 has excellent processing performance and performance, comparable to, or even somewhat better than, the traditional market grade used as a reference. Subsequently, random sampling tests conducted by designated nonwovens manufacturers once again confirmed that the innovative material is an ideal raw material for a number of potential end uses, including diapers, sanitary napkins and other sanitary products.
In addition to being a production material for a single material and composite nonwovens, the sabic®pp 514m12 can also be used as a base resin for masterbatch production.
