' Cologne BASF launches new POM device in South Korea

BASF in Cologne, a joint venture between Cologne and BASF two companies, recently built a Polyformaldehyde production plant in Jincheng, South Korea, with an annual output of 70000 tons. Together with Cologne's existing 80000 tons of annual production capacity, it has formed the world's largest POM manufacturing facility with a total production capacity of 150000 tons. The construction of the factory has taken a total of 27 months since April 2016.

The plant invests 260 million won (about $220 million) and there have been no safety or environmental incidents.

BASF provides a factory for the production of first-class POM products through strict quality control systems and energy-saving technologies, coupled with the efficient and stable production capacity of Cologne plastics. "Our new plant, built with Cologne plastics, sets an industry benchmark for pom production," said John, president of BASF's performance materials. It uses innovative environmental management standards to increase productivity and use less energy. With BASF's first production of POM in Asia, we will be able to provide a stable, high-quality pom supply for the Asia Pacific region and the rest of the world.

' Yang Bom, director of co-representative of BASF in Cologne, commented: ' Joint ventures take advantage of each company and partners work together to create synergies and are a great example of enhancing global brands. We hope to continue to cooperate in other areas of our business as well.
