According to foreign media reports, Toshiba will establish a new production facility in Yokohama to increase the production of SCiB lithium-ion batteries.
Currently, TISS (Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions) manufactures super-charged ion batteries (SCiB) at its Kashiwazaki plant and is committed to boosting the production of super-charged ion batteries in factories in Japan and overseas.
This super-charged ion battery has a long service life, fast charging speed, large input and output power, and large effective capacity. This type of battery can be used in a wide temperature range and high safety. Introduced in 2008, its functionality and reliability have been applied to electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles, the driving system of rail vehicles and the energy storage facilities of substations.
It is estimated that the future demand for super-charged ion batteries will strengthen. Toshiba has decided to build a new battery factory in Toshiba's Yokohama Complex. The facility will also be used as a technology research and development center to position TISS well and enable it to actively respond to future lithium. The expanding demand for the ion rechargeable battery market.
