On September 25, Nova Chemicals of Canada announced on Tuesday that a joint venture between Nova Chemical Company, Austrian Borealis and France Total will continue to promote the construction of a new annual production of 625,000 tons near the Houston Channel. Plan of the ethylene (PE) plant.
The three companies announced plans to form a joint venture in March 2017, including a new steam cracker that is being built by Total at the Port Arthur refinery in Texas, with an annual capacity of 1 million tons. The joint venture also includes Total's existing 400,000 tonne/year PE plant in Bayport, which is located on the ship's waterway near the Nova Nova / Borealis PE plant.
The famous US engineering and construction company McDermott will build the new PE plant, which will produce high-density polyethylene after it is built.
The joint venture expands the petrochemical business of Total and Nova Chemical in the US, while giving Borealis a foothold in the US. Nova Chemical will use the expertise of Borealis to operate the new PE plant.
