Chicago-based Pregis LLC and its support team have a strong network of distributors, manufacturers and conversion partners that will enhance the printing capabilities of Sharp's packaging by installing a blown plastic roll line. The company has invested more than $10 million in production upgrades. The packaging operations factory is located in Wisconsin, Sussex.
Pregis has installed a new five-layer co-extruded blown film line in its vertically integrated equipment that produces polyethylene-based films for flexible packaging. Pre-opened flexible bags are produced by extruding the material and then printing it. The roller is mounted on a fast bagging system located at the customer's packaging station.
The customer address can be printed in the packaging operation with thermal printing capability without the need for additional labels. The system replaces the corrugated shipper to ship soft goods. The company also installed two 8-color flexographic printing presses to provide a wide range of printing capabilities, wider The range of colors, with higher quality graphics.
