Recently, Dow Chemical announced that it will make new investments in the silicone business to support the needs of global customers in high-growth markets.
The investment plan includes a series of additional siloxane capacity and efficiency improvement projects over the next three years. A new functional siloxane polymer plant will also be built in Kentucky, which will increase production capacity in the US by 65%.
Dow also plans to add other expansion projects to increase the capacity of high-performance silicone products and intermediates, including a new specialty resin plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu, China.
In addition, Dow also announced the start of a feasibility study to build a new, world-scale siloxane plant.
Dow has operated nearly 20 silicone production facilities worldwide, including three world-class plants in Carrollton, Kentucky, Wales, and Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu, China.
