Japan AGC recently announced that it will expand its polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant of the Group's Indonesian Asahi Volkswagen Chemicals (ASC), and after its completion in the second quarter of 2021, its annual production capacity will be expanded from the current 550,000 tons. Up to 750,000 tons, AGC's annual PVC production capacity in Southeast Asia will be expanded to 1.2 million tons.
In response to the growing demand for PVC in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, AGC made the decision to expand the Indonesian ASC company. The PVC produced by the company is mainly exported to Southeast Asia in addition to the Indonesian market. The products are mainly used for Supporting pipes for construction and infrastructure.
In addition to Indonesia, AGC also has PVC production sites in Thailand and Vietnam. After Indonesia's production capacity expansion, the company's share of PVC capacity in Southeast Asia will expand by more than 40%. The company expects PVC market in Southeast Asia. Demand will exceed 1.2 million tons, and AGC will further expand the capacity of PVC plants in the future.
