Consumer prices in August 2018 rose by 2.3% year-on-year

In August 2018, national consumer prices rose by 2.3% year-on-year. Among them, cities rose by 2.3%, rural areas rose by 2.3%; food prices rose by 1.7%, non-food prices rose by 2.5%; consumer prices rose by 2.1%, and service prices rose by 2.6%. From January to August, the national consumer price rose by 2.0% over the same period last year.

In August, the national consumer price rose by 0.7% from the previous month. Among them, the city rose 0.6%, the rural rose 0.8%; the food price rose 2.4%, the non-food price rose 0.2%; the consumer price rose 0.8%, and the service price rose 0.3%.

First, the year-on-year changes in the prices of various goods and services

The price of food, tobacco and alcohol increased by 1.9% year-on-year, affecting the consumer price index (CPI) by about 0.55 percentage points. Among them, egg prices rose by 10.2%, affecting CPI by about 0.06 percentage points; poultry prices rose by 5.5%, affecting CPI The price of fresh vegetables increased by 4.3%; the price of fresh vegetables rose by 4.3%, affecting the CPI by about 0.11 percentage points; the price of livestock meat decreased by 2.0%, which affected the CPI by about 0.09 percentage points (the price of pork decreased by 4.9%, which affected the CPI by about 0.12 percentage points). Prices in the other seven categories rose year-on-year.
