On August 29, after appraisal by a specialized agency, about 74 tons of 'polyester film' previously seized by Xiamen Customs belonged to China's restricted import of solid waste. This is the first time that Xiamen Customs has seized this type of solid waste in recent years.
A company in Rongcheng County, Hebei Province, applied to Xiamen Customs to import a batch of 'polyester film (inventory grade)' from South Korea, a total of 6 containers, weighing 145.07 tons. The customs officers found that three of them were in the container. The appearance of the goods is good, the edges of the film are neat and clean, the core is intact, and it conforms to the normal cargo characteristics, but the goods in the other three containers are outdated, the surface is dirty, the layers are bonded, and some of the cores are damaged and deformed. Initially judged to belong to the factory tail goods or the abandoned goods exceeding the warranty period, with a large solid waste characteristics, the site customs officers immediately contact the professional department for solid waste property identification.
It has been identified that the total of 73.91 tons of goods in the three batches of goods is the solid waste PET, PE, PP film, which does not meet the relevant standards and specifications of plastic resin products, and belongs to China's restricted import solid waste. Currently, the goods Has been transferred to the customs anti-smuggling department for further investigation and processing.
