Tesla CEO Elon Musk promised that Tesla's super factory will get 100% of its energy from on-site solar panels by the end of the year.
Tesla Super Factory will achieve 100% solar power by the end of the year
Musk made a commitment on Twitter after questioning the company's sustainability certificate for electric vehicle production.
User SeanHQuinn wrote on Twitter: 'But the electric car is still built in the factory, I don't think the carbon dioxide emissions have improved.'
Musk responded that the challenge was 'completely wrong' and said that the battery manufacturer would rely entirely on renewable energy by the end of 2019.
At present, the super factory is only one-third complete, and its roof and surrounding landscape design has a 70 MW solar array.
