According to Wim Roels, the Boluo Chemical Shanghai plant is undergoing a 'de-bottleneck' project, which is currently in the front-end engineering and design phase. After the project is completed, the capacity of the Shanghai plant will increase from the current 35,000 tons/year. 125,000 tons / year.
It is understood that the products of the Boluo Chemical Shanghai plant mainly serve the Chinese automotive market, especially electric vehicles.
Wim Roels said: 'The automotive industry is currently facing lightweight challenges, and we are in close contact with electric vehicle manufacturers to develop lightweight materials suitable for their use.'
At the same time, Borouge Chemical's 48,000 tons/year PP unit in Abu Dhabi, UAE will also be put into operation in 2021.
Wim Roels pointed out that infrastructure construction in Asia is undergoing tremendous changes. China's energy supply is shifting from coal to natural gas, which will also boost demand for plastic pipes. India also has a project to supply pipeline gas to large cities. In many countries in Asia, The per capita consumption of plastics is still below the global average. Future economic development will continue to increase per capita plastic consumption in these countries.
