According to the government News office, the Mongolian government has recently made a resolution prohibiting the sale or use of disposable plastic bags from March 1, 2019.
The natural environment and Tourism Minister, Rembat, will prohibit the use of plastic bags with a thickness of less than 0.035 mm, which can pollute water and soil and affect the ecological environment. The General administration of Customs and Technical Supervision will oversee the resolution.
The announcement was made a year earlier to prepare people and importers to run out of existing plastic bags. He also said that the Mongolian Government had made the resolution within the framework of the "no Litter celebration Nadam" campaign advocated by the Ministry of Natural Environment and tourism.
According to the Government resolution, import or production of disposable plastic bags will be prohibited. Mongolia to ban plastic bags from March 2019 onwards
