Pelion Technology has developed a new lithium metal battery that doubles its power and is half lighter than conventional lithium batteries.
It is said that the battery of Paragon is not started from the lithium metal inside the battery. On the contrary, the battery is manufactured in the same way as a conventional lithium ion battery. The battery uses a liquid electrolyte, a cathode and an anode. For Paion, this is important because the current mainstream lithium battery manufacturers are in Asia, which means the cost is cheaper.
When in the discharge state, the lithium ion of the Paragon battery is located in the cathode and is arranged closely. When charging the battery for the first time, lithium ions will leave the cathode and accumulate on the copper anode to form a lithium metal layer. When the battery is first charged, the battery will be completely isolated from the external environment, and the newly formed lithium metal layer will protect the internal components of the battery from chemical reaction with the external environment. This configuration is called 'zero lithium. (zero-lithium) ' or 'lithium-free'.
Pelion's research has made a breakthrough and requires a lot of financial support. If it can overcome the previous funding problems, its battery can be used for Tesla models, making its cruising range of 800 kilometers (about 500 miles). Instead of the first 400 kilometers (about 250 miles).
