Recently, BYD successfully seized the first batch of 9 pure electric bus orders from Quebec, Canada's economic province, marking the official opening of the zero-emission bus era in Quebec. Since entering the Canadian market in 2013, BYD has successively harvested Alberta and Ontario. Orders, now with the addition of Quebec, three of the country's four most economically developed provinces have chosen BYD.
It is reported that the order includes nine BYD K7Ms, which will serve two local bus companies, four of which will be assigned to the Montreal bus company (Société detransport de Montréal) and the other five will be delivered to the Réseau de transport de Longueuil. It is worth mentioning that Hydro Quebec, Canada's largest power company, will provide charging services. Charging pure electric buses with clean electricity can be described as 100% zero pollution from start to finish.
'Our bus is charged at night, which will moderate the grid pressure to a certain extent, and effectively use the excess electricity in the night, killing two birds with one stone. It is expected that these buses will save more than 100,000 US dollars of diesel cost per year, while reducing carbon emissions by more than 600 tons. Ted Dowling, vice president of BYD Canada, said.
In March 2016, St. Albert, Alberta, announced the purchase of seven BYD pure electric buses, becoming the first city in the country to operate pure electric buses. In November 2017, BYD went to Loblaw, Canada's largest food and drug retailer. Delivering the country's first 16-meter heavy-duty pure electric truck, marking Canada's official entry into the era of zero-emission logistics. In early July 2018, BYD delivered the first two pure electric buses to Grande Prairie Transit, the northwestern bus operator in Edmonton. In late July 2018, 10 bus orders from the Toronto Transportation Commission, Canada's largest transportation operator, were seized. Today, Quebec's orders are again re-emerged, reflecting the increasing brand influence of BYD in Canada.
