Organization: Samsung smartphone price ranking fell to the fifth in the world

On August 14th, a data released by market research firm Counterpoint Research showed that the average retail price (ASP) of Samsung smartphones in the second quarter of this year was US$247, down 8% year-on-year. Samsung Electronics is the world's seven largest smartphone manufacturers. The only company with a decline in ASP, the average ASP global ranking dropped from the original 2nd to the 5th, has been overtaken by OPPO, Huawei and other Chinese brands.

The data shows that Apple's mobile phone ASP is 724 US dollars, up 20% year-on-year, ranking first. The second-ranked OPPO mobile phone ASP is 275 US dollars, up 17% year-on-year; Huawei 265 US dollars, up 21% year-on-year; VIVO is 259 US dollars, It was up 14% year-on-year. LG and Xiaomi were ranked 6th and 7th, up 23% and 14% year-on-year.

According to Counterpoint Research, the main reason for the sharp increase in the average retail price of Chinese brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi is its continuous appearance and performance upgrade. The market share of mid- to high-end products continues to expand, compared to Samsung’s homework in this area. Relatively insufficient.

Another market research institute IDC statistics show that Samsung's smartphone market share in India in the second quarter was 23.9%, although it increased by 0.3 percentage points compared with the same period of last year, but it is still inferior to Xiaomi. Xiaomi mobile phone shipment in the second quarter of India market The volume surged 107.6%, and the market share soared from 17.2% last year to 29.7%.

It is understood that in order to compete with Xiaomi, Samsung vigorously promotes the sales and promotion of low-end and mid-range mobile phones GalaxyJ6, GalaxyJ4 and GalaxyJ2. The sales growth of low-end and mid-range mobile phones will further lower the average selling price of Samsung mobile phones.

In fact, Gao Dongzhen, president of Samsung's mobile business unit, has recently frankly said that the global smartphone market is not selling well, and the sharp rise of Chinese manufacturers has brought a big impact on Samsung. The performance of Samsung's smart flagship mobile phone is not as good as before. I have to compete with Chinese-made mobile phones with price advantages in India, China and other places.

According to foreign media reports, Samsung Electronics is considering suspending the operation of Tianjin Samsung Communications Technology Co., Ltd. mobile phone production plant due to the sharp decline in sales and rising labor costs.
