To address the waste generated by electronic chargers each year, the European Union plans to study whether it is necessary to take action to advance the development of universal mobile phone chargers.
The European Union has been trying to unify mobile phone chargers for the past more than 10 years, but manufacturers have little to follow, and iphone and Android phone users are more embracing the decision, but pushing it will find it harder.
Previously, 14 companies, including Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Nokia, had signed an agreement with the European Union to work on a unified charger, but the provision was largely voluntary, so it was inevitable that it would not proceed.
In response, the European Union indicated that, given the unsatisfactory progress of such voluntary initiatives, they would determine whether there was a need for action and would analyse the impact of the various options.
