Japanese media: Sharp began mass production of OLED panels

According to Japanese media reports, Sharp executive vice president Katsuaki Nomura said that Sharp's own brand Aquos high-end smartphone with its own OLED panel is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2018.

According to the report, Sharp confirmed on July 31 that the mass production of OLED panels began in June.

Sharp has previously said that it will begin mass production of OLED panels in the summer of 2018, using Sakai Display Products (SDP) equipment.

According to IHS Markit data, Samsung Display (SDC) currently accounts for 90.1% of the global small and medium size OLED panel market, and LGD only accounts for a small portion of 7.7%.
