Rockwell Automation Introduces New DC Excitation Controller

Recently, Rockwell Automation introduced the new Allen-Bradley PowerFlex DC Excitation Controller, which enables customers to modernize DC motor applications without the need for complex and complex external equipment. With digital networking network control systems at the forefront of technology, Customers can efficiently collect and utilize important information across the enterprise.
The DC excitation controller provides excitation control for three-phase, four-quadrant (reversible) DC motors or generators. It can be used stand-alone or with PowerFlex digital DC converters. In stand-alone mode, by using fixed I /O, the controller can supply the DC motor magnetic field with a fixed reference signal. This product can also be used to control electromagnets and other non-motor loads.
'With the PowerFlex DC Excitation Controller, there is no need to add additional armature bridges or a variety of complex external equipment in DC motor retrofit applications that require motor reversal, allowing customers to achieve both time and cost savings,' Rockwell According to Nancy Rivard, Automation Product Manager, 'Rockwell offers all automation equipment, including AC drives and DC drives, and simplifies machine start-up, operation and maintenance.'
The excitation controller is rated for output currents from 17A to 575A and supports rated input voltages of 200V and 500V. This product further enhances the drive capability of the DC driver family, extends the range of applications, and focuses on single-drive and multi-drive systems. Applications. The PowerFlex DC drive family is ideal for DC motor applications and retrofits up to 6000Hp (4000 kW).
The PowerFlex DC drive family embraces the core highlights of the PowerFlex AC drive family, including seamless integration into Logix-based environments, flexible feedback and optional communication capabilities, and globally compliant voltage settings.
