ABB presented the IRB 6790 FoundryPrime robot for high-pressure water jet cleaning applications in harsh industrial environments at the Munich International Robotics and Automation Technology Trade Fair. As the world's leading supplier of robotics, ABB has more than 13 years of experience in this application industry. The third-generation Foundry Prime casting robot introduced this time increases reliability and extends system uptime while reducing maintenance costs by 60%.
Ni Sid, global head of ABB's robotics business unit, said: 'Over the years, ABB has installed a large number of robotic systems in automotive manufacturing plants around the world, which gives us a clear understanding of the challenges and future trends facing the automotive industry today. We have developed superior robotic solutions to help the automotive industry continue to write a brilliant future in the tough operating environment.'
The IRB 6790 is highly flexible and can be used to clean different shapes of parts in the same workstation, eliminating the need for line changes, making it easy for automakers, original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers to make large-scale customized production. In addition to improving flexibility and productivity, The solution also increases production speed and reduces production averaging by an average of 5%. Its design is primarily focused on ensuring production stability and system uptime, while improving applicability through optimized maintenance, thereby reducing total cost of ownership.
The third-generation Foundry Prime casting robot can work in harsh and humid environments that are generally not suitable for industrial robots. It is more resistant to high temperatures, high pressure cleaning, chemical corrosion and dust. In addition, the product also meets IP69 protection rating, waterproof and anti- Dust, chemical cleaner PH can be as high as 10.
The IRB 6790 is designed to ensure high stability in harsh environments while reducing maintenance costs by 60%. The robot is available in two options: one with a load of 205kg and a working range of 2.8m; the other with a load of 235kg. The working range is 2.65 meters.
