Server chip leaders are still Intel and AMD, in large-scale network data center (Internet Datacenter) applications In the field, the server solution of Intel x86 architecture is still the best in terms of product positioning and the scale of use is still the highest in the market.

Liu Jiahao, senior analyst of DRAMeXchange, pointed out that if it is analyzed from the server application market, it still accounts for about 60% of enterprise users, and the data center large-scale server group (Hyperscale Server Application) accounts for about 30%. The future with the data center The popularity of construction, and the implementation of 5G after 2020, the micro-server application for edge computing (Micro Server) will grow significantly in the next 3-5 years, driving the use of related parts and memory significantly increased.

Intel and AMD will push the new platform, 2019 single-board capacity will maintain 20% annual growth

So far, the x86 architecture server solution is still the mainstream of the market. The penetration rate of the Intel Purley platform has increased to about 50% at the end of the first quarter of this year. On the other hand, AMD has also transferred a large number of products to the 14nm node. Amplify the amount of filming related to the process, and replace the old product line. As for the ARMv8 and RISC architecture, only the small-scale production to order is maintained at this stage, and the data center market is the main, expected in 2020. It is still difficult to compete with x86 servers before. After 2020, as the penetration rate of micro servers increases, it will create entry points for these two types of architecture.

From the perspective of new product planning, Intel's Cascade Lake will still follow the 14nm third-generation process, but it is expected to become the mainstream after the second half of next year. AMD's new solution will be transferred to the 7nm process, except for major products. The line has been transferred to the new EPYC product line this year. It is expected that the AMD Rome platform server processor will have a chance to come out in the second half of next year.

DRAMeXchange pointed out that the conversion of the new platform will have the opportunity to promote the capacity of the server, and it is estimated that the capacity of the single-machine Server DRAM will continue to grow by 20% in 2019.
