Since the second quarter of 2017, Shanghai Xinsheng 300mm large silicon wafer project has been providing positive film certification to chip foundry companies such as SMIC. In 2017, it has realized the sale of products such as floppy films, accompanying films, test films, etc. The certification work is going well. According to the latest news from Shanghai Xinsheng Company, their 300mm wafer (12-inch wafer) has passed the certification of Shanghai Huali Microelectronics Co., Ltd., but TSMC's certification work has not been completed.
In addition, Shanghai Xinsheng expects silicon wafer production capacity to reach 100,000 pieces per month by the end of this year.
According to the SEI Global Semiconductor Association, 19 new fabs will be established between 2016 and 2017, of which 10 will be in the mainland, and 26 new fabs will be put into operation in the four years from 2017 to 2020. , become the most active area of the new fab in the world.
However, the gap in silicon wafers is also increasing. At present, the global silicon wafer production capacity is 5.5 million pieces/month. The demand for domestic 12-inch wafers is about 500,000 pieces/month, and will increase to 110-1.3 million pieces/month in 2018, an increase of more than 100%. This is a test for global wafer supply.
