Toshiba launches XG6 SSD: 96-layer TLC flash memory, speed up to 3.2GB/s

On the morning of July 24th, Toshiba launched its first NVMe specification solid state drive XG6, BiCS4 TLC granules using 96-layer 3D flash memory.

XG6 is the successor of the OEM channel XG5. In addition to retaining the price-effective features, it also continues the advantages of low-power load. The idle power consumption is only 3mW, and the write power consumption is 4.7W.

In terms of basic specifications, XG6 integrates Toshiba TC58NCP090GSD master control, PCIe 3.0 x4 channel, supports NVMe 1.3a specification, capacity is 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. 256GB uses 256Gb memory chip, a total of 8.

Performance, Continuous reading up to 3180MB/s, continuous writing up to 2960MB/s, 4K random reading up to 355K IOPS, random writing up to 365K IOPS.

XG6 has been shipped to OEMs for samples and is expected to appear on high-end notebooks soon.

In addition, the XG6 consumer model will also replace the old OCZ RD400 (the consumer version of Toshiba XG3) in the future.
