At the end of May this year, Qualcomm released the new model Snapdragon 710, which is the first model of the Snapdragon 700 series. It is positioned between the flagship Snapdragon 800 and the mainstream Snapdragon 600. It draws on many of the advanced features of the former and has gained a lot of cost. Good control, very suitable for high-end models. Now less than two months have passed, the name of Xiaolong 720 has appeared again!

At present, there is no specific specification information for Xiaolong 720. It is only known that it is an enhanced version of Xiaolong 710. It is said that the key will be added to the NPU neural network computing unit (similar to Huawei Kirin 970), which is dedicated to AI acceleration.

If true, this is the first time for Xiaolong, which is significant because the current Xiaolong platform does not have a dedicated AI hardware unit, but relies on the AIE engine on the software side, which is still inefficient in certain AI scenarios. .

Interestingly, the previous report on the Snapdragon 710 also mentioned the Snapdragon 730, claiming that it will be manufactured using the Samsung 8nm LPP process (10nm upgrade), integrating two Kryo 4xx 2.3GHz, six Kryo 4xx 1.8 GHz CPU core, and specially equipped with NPU 120 unit!

Considering that the size of the Snapdragon 710 at the same time is quite close to the official announcement, it seems that this Snapdragon 720, NPU and even the Snapdragon 730 is still very promising. Lastly, the news said that at least three mobile phone manufacturers are currently developing 骁Dragon 720 models, of which Samsung is expected to win the starter, and is the brand new Galaxy series models.
