In 2017, the highest dispatched power load of Jiangsu Power Grid has reached 102 million kilowatts, exceeding the highest power load in Germany, South Korea, Australia and other countries. During the peak summer season this year, Jiangsu Power Grid is in overall balance, and there is a power gap in some regions. Wang Xu, spokesperson of Jiangsu Power News, director of the development department, told the reporter: ' Among them, 3 sets of 330,000 kilowatt coal-fired power units of Zhenjiang Shubi Power Plant were shut down, and Dantu 2 440,000 gas-fired units could not be completed and put into operation as planned. It is predicted that there will be a power gap in the eastern part of Zhenjiang during the summer peak season in 2018.

As a 'new generation' grid device, energy storage is like a super-capacity 'charging treasure'. When the electricity is low, when the electric load is full of electricity, when the electricity is at the peak, it will be used as a power source to release electricity, effectively filling the power gap. At the same time, the large-scale storage and quick release function of electric energy can fill the blind zone of the conventional control method of the power grid, realize flexible adjustment and precise control of electric energy, and demonstrate the role of building a high-end power grid and constructing a new generation power system. .
According to calculations, after the completion of the Zhenjiang energy storage project, it can provide 400,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity during the peak hours of daily electricity consumption, and meet the electricity consumption of 170,000 residents. However, if a power plant of the same capacity is built, it needs to invest 800 million yuan. The effective operation is only 1-2 hours per day. In addition, the energy storage power station can also play the role of peak shaving, load response, black start service, etc., in order to alleviate the contradiction between power supply and demand caused by the rapid development of power consumption and the high-quality development of the power grid. The reporter learned that the Zhenjiang energy storage power station will use the 'two charge and two release' mode to participate in the grid operation, that is, charge twice a day. At the same time, in the two peaks of electricity consumption of one day, all the electric energy will be released.
In Jiangsu, the Zhenjiang Energy Storage Power Station has also been connected to the 'Large Source Network-Friendly Interaction System' built by the State Grid Jiangsu Power in recent years, and upgraded it to the 'source network load-storage' system to more effectively protect the safety of large power grids.
