According to reports, Toshiba IEGT is widely used in large equipment in Japan, Europe, the United States, India, Africa. In China, it is mainly used in flexible DC transmission, motor drive (track traction, industrial frequency conversion) and other occasions. Flexible DC transmission is a project. Type, pulsed demand, single project usage is very large but project demand is sudden and unstable; motor drive is product type, continuous and stable demand.

In general, motor drive is a traditional market, maintaining a steady small growth; flexible DC transmission is an emerging market with significant growth potential.

Toshiba is currently focusing on the promotion of press-fit IEGT products. The product features high power density, double-sided heat dissipation, and short-circuit failure mode. The product advantage is relative to plastic modular IGBTs, high power density, high reliability, convenient series connection, and more explosion-proof capability. Strong.

According to Qu Xingguo, these products can be widely used in industrial locomotive traction, renewable energy, power transmission, industrial frequency conversion, electric vehicles and other industrial fields. These fields are increasingly demanding to reduce noise, device volume and energy consumption.

How Toshiba IEGT can help renewable energy

When it comes to Toshiba's IEGT products, you have to mention the PPI package, which is a crimp-packaged IEGT product.

It is understood that the package has been mass-produced since 2000. Through this unique double-sided heat dissipation structure, the power density can be significantly improved.

Qu Xingguo said that compared with the traditional IGBT, it has four major advantages: 1, high thermal cycle capability comes from wireless bonding, can withstand higher temperatures; 2, explosion-proof structure of ceramic casing; 3, driving mode and current The IGBTs are the same, the engineer's design does not need to be changed, and the IGBT driver chip market is supplied simultaneously; 4. It facilitates the series application of multiple devices.

To make it easier for customers to apply crimp-type IEGT products, Toshiba has also developed a two-level, eleven-series power module based on crimp-type IEGT with its partners. It is suitable for flexible DC transmission converter valves and DC circuit breakers.
