China's first 8.5-generation OLED panel production line settled

Guangzhou won China's first large-size OLED panel production line in one fell swoop! LG Display announced on July 10 that its investment plan for establishing 8.5-generation OLED panel production line in Guangzhou has officially passed the centralized anti-monopoly review of operators, located in Huangpu District, Guangzhou Development Zone. The construction project is expected to be completed and put into operation in the second half of 2019.

90,000 pieces of glass substrate per month after full production

After completing the filing and approval procedures of the relevant national ministries, the OLED project with a total investment of RMB 46 billion completed the company registration on the afternoon of July 11, successfully obtained the business license, and officially “married into” Huangpu District, Guangzhou Development Zone. .

It is understood that the production capacity of the production line will be 60,000 pieces of glass substrate per month after mass production, and the maximum production capacity will reach 90,000 glass substrates. It mainly produces UHD ultra-high-definition 55-77-inch TV OLED panels. Currently, LG Display Korea Paju E3, The E4 plant has a monthly capacity of 70,000 pieces. Together with the capacity of the Guangzhou plant, LG Display's total OLED panel production capacity will reach 130,000 in the second half of 2019.

This 8.5-generation OLED panel production line is LG Display's successor module factory. After the LCD production line, it is the third project in Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development Zone. It is also the first large-size OLED panel production line established outside Korea.

'We sincerely thank the Chinese government for its long-term support for LG Display. The newly built 8.5-generation OLED panel production line will further promote the OLED upstream and downstream industry chain to take root in China. LG Display will continue to work with Chinese partners to promote OLED technology. Innovation and development, creating leading differentiated display products and making unremitting efforts'. LG Display CEO Han Xiangfan said that China will become the core engine for the future development of the OLED industry.

It is reported that the project is jointly established by LG Display and Huangpu District, Guangzhou Development Zone State Enterprise Guangzhou Kaide Technology Development Co., Ltd. in a 7:3 ratio.

The IAB industry output value in this area accounts for over 50% in Guangzhou.

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) is also known as organic electro-laser display, organic light-emitting semiconductor.

Compared with LCD (short for Liquid Crystal Display, liquid crystal display), OLED is a backlight-free, liquid-free self-illuminating display with excellent color saturation, contrast and response speed, which can achieve perfect black and more precise The color performance ensures its perfect picture quality. Due to its lighter weight, transparency and flexibility, OLED can achieve a variety of designs.

Huangpu District, Guangzhou Development Zone is the main force of Guangzhou's development of IAB (ie information technology, artificial intelligence, biomedicine) strategic emerging industry, the main battlefield, the current three strategic emerging industries accounted for more than 50% of Guangzhou's output value.

At present, the district is planning to build five major value innovation parks, including the next-generation information technology industrial park. The core of it is to lead the development of industrial ecology with leading enterprises, optimize the integration of resource utilization, and create new value.

According to reports, by 2020, Huangpu District, Guangzhou Development Zone flat panel display industry output value is expected to reach 300 billion yuan.
