Set! LGD Guangzhou OLED panel investment project officially approved

China National Grid was informed that LG Display announced on July 10 that its investment plan for the establishment of the 8.5-generation OLED panel production line in Guangzhou, China has been officially approved by the State Administration of Market Supervision of China. At this point, the LGD Guangzhou OLED Investment Project has completed all approval procedures, and it is expected It will be completed and put into production in the second half of 2019.

It is understood that the production capacity of the production line is 60,000 pieces of glass substrate per month after mass production, and the maximum production capacity will reach 90,000 glass substrates. It mainly produces UHD ultra-high-definition 55-77-inch TV OLED panels. Currently, LG Display Korea Paju E3, The E4 plant has a monthly capacity of 70,000 pieces. Together with the capacity of the Guangzhou plant, LG Display's total OLED panel production capacity will reach 130,000 in the second half of 2019.

According to LG Display, the total investment of the project is about 5 trillion won, and LG Display and Guangzhou Kaide Technology Development Co., Ltd. are jointly invested in a 7:3 ratio.

China National Grid understands that this 8.5-generation OLED panel production line is LG Display's successor module factory, the third production line established in Guangzhou, China after the LCD production line, and the first large-size OLED panel production line established outside Korea. This shows LG Display's emphasis on the Chinese market, as well as its determination to actively accelerate the layout of China's OLED industry chain and promote the development of high-end display industry.

LG Display CEO Han Xiangfan said: 'We sincerely thank the Chinese government for its long-term support for LG Display. In the ten years of Guangzhou, LG Display has been committed to providing the Chinese market with leading technology and rich production experience. The highest quality panel products. The newly built 8.5-generation OLED panel production line will further promote the OLED upstream and downstream industry chain to take root in China and help China to become a OLED industry. In the future, LG Display will continue to work with Chinese partners. Promote the innovation and development of OLED technology, and create a leading differentiated display product and make unremitting efforts'.

Compared with LCD, OLED is no backlight, no liquid crystal self-luminous display. Due to the thinner and lighter material, OLED can realize a variety of designs, and its perfect black and more accurate color performance ensures it. In the field of innovative TV panels, OLEDs have given more possibilities to modern TVs, such as wallpaper TVs and self-sounding TVs. Based on the above advantages, OLED panels are also popular among TV manufacturers. At present, the OLED camp has expanded to 14 in the world, including Hisense, Skyworth, Changhong, Konka and other major Chinese mainstream TV companies.

LG Display has been actively promoting the development of the OLED industry. In 2013, the sales volume of OLED TV panels was only 200,000. In 2017, it exceeded 1.7 million, and this year will exceed 3 million. With the sharp increase in sales, LG Display OLED Division The first half of this year will be profitable for the first time.

Industry insiders believe that the establishment of LG Display Guangzhou OLED panel factory will greatly accelerate the popularity of OLED TV. With the vigorous wave of consumption upgrade, the Chinese market has become the best market for high-end products to test water. IHS forecast figures show In 2019, China's OLEDTV will continue to maintain rapid growth, up 115.5% from 2018. By then, China will become the only region in the world with OLEDTV growth rate exceeding 100%. At that time, Japan's second-ranked growth rate is expected to be 64.7%. This year, Hisense, China's leading TV manufacturer, has joined the OLED camp, which will further increase the growth rate of China's OLED market. Establishing a production line in this key market will not only reduce logistics costs, but also provide stable supply, which will popularize OLED TVs. Great help.

In addition, the establishment of LG Display Guangzhou OLED panel production line is also conducive to strengthening and exerting the advantages of Guangzhou's 'display capital', enabling the upstream and downstream industrial chain around OLED to take root in China, making China one of the core power sources for the future development of the OLED industry. At the same time, it will further consolidate LG Display's leading position in the global large-size OLED panel market.
