Solvay targets high-end products and pickling water markets in China

For anyone who still believes that China is a country that mainly produces cheap goods and accessories, the Solvay Group's appearance at Chinaplas will quickly change the prejudice of such people against China.

Du Zhizhong, president of Solvay Specialty Polymers Asia Pacific, said in an interview at the show: 'Asia is our most important market. China is the largest and fastest growing market in Asia.'

Zhou Qiang, general manager of the Specialty Polymers Division in China, said: 'We don't pay attention to ordinary products, but focus on specialty products. We pay more attention to very special, small and powerful parts.'

Zhou Qiang said that an unusual demand is emerging in southwestern China, where a large amount of wastewater from the pickling plant is undergoing an 'environmental nightmare'.

Zhou Qiang said that researchers at Solvay Shanghai Science and Technology Park are working with local governments to develop equipment to protect water supplies.

The company introduced three new filaments for added production.

Two of the filaments are based on KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK) polymer. One filament is pure PEEK and the other filament contains 10% carbon fiber reinforcement. The third filament is based on Solvay Radel polyphenylene. Sulfone (PPSU).

The Specialty Polymers Division is shifting its focus to aerospace and medical applications by adding production powders based on NovaSpire polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) polymers. However, the release date has not been announced.

Solvay KetaSpire will be the first PEEK filament in the SAIDDigimat simulation software for the Luxembourg e-Xstream project. The software was released in June.

Digimat allows engineers and designers to simulate and predict warpage and stress in additive products.

In addition, Solvay also announced an additive production e-commerce website www.solvayamshop.

At Solvay's booth, Solvay Additives Technologies showcased its portfolio of Cyasorb brand UV stabilizers. Cyasorb integrated solution A series for agricultural film, B series for construction, and another series for the automotive industry For the goal.

At the same time, the Solvay Performance polyamides division turned its attention to automotive applications and launched the Technyl polyamide (PA) portfolio.

'Since China is already at the forefront of the electric vehicle industry, we are actively pursuing service and support, and will strive to be lighter,” said Hill Gu, Director of Asian Automotive Marketing, Solvay Performance Technologies. Express.

Other automotive solutions exhibited by Solvay include Amodel PPA and Solef PVDF for use in electrified components to improve battery performance.

Typical applications in healthcare include knee implants. This knee implant was developed by China O'Connor Medical Technology Development Co., Ltd. using Solvay's Zeniva PEEK.

O'Connell Technical Director Zhu Zhonglin said: ORGKnee is competitively priced and is faster and safer in production than traditional metal knee implants.

The China Food and Drug Administration will begin testing the ORGKnee knee implant in September. O'Connor plans to launch the product in 2020.

In addition, Solvay also demonstrated an enclosure made of fiberglass reinforcement Ryton R-4-230BL polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). These enclosures protect industrial sensors from Advanced Sensing Technologies, Inc., Orange County, California. .

'We are committed to helping Chinese customers seize opportunities when they are moving into the future, and take the road of sustainable development and innovation,' said Du Zhizhong.
