According to the report, LG Display, as another Apple OLED panel supplier, can help the iPhone design OLED panel supply faster and reduce costs.
The newspaper quoted industry insiders as saying that LG Display will initially provide 3 million to 5 million sets of OLED panels to Apple, and will continue to increase production capacity.
South China Morning Post recently quoted people familiar with the matter and reported that for high-end iPhone OLED panels, Apple will soon be the second supplier to supply. This means Apple is reducing manufacturing costs for flagship models. A key step is also to reduce dependence on South Korea's Samsung Electronics.
Samsung Display is currently the exclusive supplier of OLED panels for iPhone X. Samsung Display estimates that it will manufacture more than 10 million OLED panels per month.
South Korea's financial website The Investor quoted industry sources as early as January this year, LG Display expects to start shipping the first OLED panels for the iPhone in the second half of this year.
Analysts have previously issued a report that Apple will actively introduce from this year to fully support LG Display as the second panel supplier of OLED version of the iPhone to disperse the OLED supply risk in the next 3 to 5 years, and estimate LG Display in this year's OLED panel. Shipments may be less than 4% to 6%.
The market generally expects that in the second half of this year, Apple may launch 6.5 吋 and 5.8 吋 OLED versions of the iPhone and 6.1 吋 LCD version of the iPhone.
