Global semiconductor sales in May surged 21% year-on-year, and China increased by 28.5%.

The Semiconductor Industry Association announced on the 2nd that global semiconductor sales in May 2018 were $38.7 billion. Compared with the previous month, sales in May increased by 3%. Compared with the same period last year, sales soared 21%.

John Neuffer, President and CEO of SIA, pointed out that the annual sales growth of the global semiconductor market has exceeded 20% for 14 consecutive months. In May, it hit a new monthly sales record. The Americas once again led the trend, with an annual growth rate of more than 30%. Sales of semiconductor products have increased year by year and monthly growth.

Looking at the buying power in various regions, compared with the same period of last year, sales in the Americas increased by 31.6% in May, China increased by 28.5%, Europe increased by 18.7%, Japan increased by 14.7%, and Asia-Pacific/Other regions increased by 8.7%.

Compared with the previous month, China's monthly increase of 6.3%, Japan's monthly increase of 2.6%, Asia / other regions increased by 1.2%, the Americas increased by 1.1%, Europe increased by 1.0%.
