Hayel Obeidat, Director-General of the Jordanian Food and Drug Administration, said in an interview: Today, 37.6% of Jordanian income is spent on food and 6.8% is on health (36% of it is for medicines).
In 2014, the government abolished the counterfeit drug market and promoted the healthy development of the drug market. In the past two years, Jordan drugs have successfully entered 62 countries around the world, with an export value of more than 600 million rupees (Note: 1 about = $1.41).

Currently there are 108 pharmaceutical factories in Jordan (the number of overseas factories has reached 15), with 8,000 workers. The Jordanian pharmaceutical industry has accumulated good manufacturing experience and technical expertise. .
In recent years, the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry has benefited from the Middle East economy, especially the steady growth of the GCC countries’ economy and the government’s increasing expenditure in the health care sector. Due to high quality, good reputation and moderate price, Jordan’s pharmaceutical products have been exported to 62 countries and regions in the world, including GCC countries, the United States and European Union countries.
Leading pharmaceutical products in Jordan are: medical and therapeutic materials, pharmaceuticals, therapeutic preservatives, natural medical cosmetics, veterinary therapeutic products, laboratory reagents, medical equipment and supplies, visual and audio-visual materials, dental equipment and other medical products.
