Xiaoxiang senior vice president Wang Xiang told Reuters on Tuesday that the US market is 'very attractive' and the company is expanding its engineering resources to develop models compatible with US mobile phone networks.
'We hope to make a difference in the United States next year,' Wang Xiang said that negotiations with US carriers have not yet reached a specific agreement.
Wang Xiang said that the trade tension brought 'uncertainty', but he played down the impact of the matter on the company's US plan, emphasizing the company and Qualcomm (QCOM.O), and the Android operating system parent company Alphabet Inc ( GOOGL.O) and other US suppliers.
'We believe that there is no reason to fall into this political issue,' said Wang Xiang, who served as president of Qualcomm's Greater China region before moving to Xiaomi in 2015.
