Dongli Industrial will increase its production capacity of polyphenylene sulfide composites and strive to occupy 30% of the global market share in FY18.
Toray mainly produces PPS resin in Japan and South Korea. The total capacity of the two places is 27,600 tons/year. PPS composite materials are produced in Japan, China, Korea, Thailand and the United States. The new 3,000 tons/year composite material is produced in Hungary. The facility will be put into operation in June. Toray plans to increase the production capacity of PPS composites in Japan, such as the addition of a production line with an annual production capacity of 3,000 tons at the Nagoya plant, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2019.
The demand for PPS composites is increasing. Applications include hybrid automotive mechanical components, wind power and photovoltaic generators, and railway power modules and connectors. Toray Industries said that if everything goes according to plan, Toray will be in the world PPS composites. The market dominates and its share will exceed 30%. In line with this development strategy, Toray completed the acquisition of TenCate Advanced Materials in the Netherlands this year, which is the world's largest producer of thermoplastic prepregs.
