It is not easy to obtain approval from the U.S. military because it is designed to deal with national security issues in the United States, and it is not easy for Americans to trust other countries’ products.
For this purpose, Samsung cooperates with several standards organizations and adopts the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation as defined by the National Defense Information Security Bureau to ensure that these devices meet the requirements of the national information security partners.
Simply put, Samsung's phones need to prove that they meet more than 100 unique requirements from encryption, intrusion detection, key exchange, and support for secure network standards.
The certification process of the equipment also requires Samsung’s continuous research and development and establishes a close working relationship with the U.S. government. Only a few equipment manufacturers in the market have obtained this approval, so this is undoubtedly a major achievement for Korean companies.
Through this certification, these approved Samsung devices can now be purchased by the federal government, agencies and other highly regulated industries without further modification.
