At least 25% of Volvo's new model plastics will come from renewable materials in 2025

Volvo, Sweden's famous car brand, was once translated as Regal. The brand was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1927. The founders were Gustav Larsen and Arthur Gablen. The Volvo Group is a global leader in commercial transportation and Construction equipment manufacturers, mainly providing trucks, passenger cars, construction equipment, marine and industrial application drive systems and aero-engine components; and complete solutions for financial and after-sales services. In 1999, the Volvo Group sold its Volvo car business to the United States. Ford Motor Company. In 2010, the Chinese auto company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group purchased the Volvo sedan business from Ford and obtained the ownership of the Volvo sedan brand.

Reuters said on the 18th, Beijing time, Volvo Car Corporation said on Monday that it plans to start from 2025, at least 25% of the plastic used in its new models will come from renewable materials.

Stuart Templar, Volvo's Director of Sustainability, said: 'Renewable plastics, such as plastics recovered from fishing nets or used bottles, will not affect the safety or quality of the car.' He added: 'We think this has commercial significance.'

At present, many large companies are designing recyclable products to limit pollution. Volvo plans to go further and put more renewable materials into its production line.

The company stated that it is negotiating with plastics manufacturers to achieve 'at least 20 percent of the plastics used in each new Volvo vehicle will be made from renewable materials since 2025'.

Volvo also announced last year that it plans to fully implement electrification from 2019 onwards. The company said last month that its goal is to make electric vehicles account for half of its global sales by 2025.
