Apple recruited Jaime Waydo, a former system engineer at Waymo, who confirmed this to the information technology website The Information.
Prior to joining Waymo, Victor had worked as an engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory for a long time. She was responsible for systems engineering during Waymo, ensuring good hardware and software cooperation and helping the company to make some key decisions, including when to cancel human security member.
Apple is secretive about the development plan for driverless cars, but the company's CEO, Tim Cook, once called it "the mother of all artificial intelligence projects."
The company has not released any products related to driverless cars, but many actions show that they are interested in this technology.
Apple has been allowed to test driverless cars in California and has published some research results on how to make it easier for driverless cars to detect pedestrians and cyclists.
In April this year, Apple also announced that it had hired former Google artificial intelligence executive John Giannandrea.
