It is understood that AUO’s unaudited comprehensive revenue in May reached NT$25.74 billion, which was a 5.2% increase from the previous quarter and a decrease of 8.3% year-on-year. Innolux’s revenue in May was NT$22 billion, an increase of 11.7% from the previous quarter. However, it was down 21.7% year-over-year. Chunghwa Picture Tubes reported consolidated revenue of NT$2.308 billion in May, which was a 4.9% increase from the previous quarter, but it was down 3.9% year-on-year.
In general, the first quarter was the off-season of the panel market, and the revenue of panel makers was not good. However, due to the spring release of display terminal manufacturers in the second quarter, panel demand picked up. Insufficient innovation by mobile phone manufacturers can not afford to change the market, and the growth of mobile phone market will slow down. The display terminal market is sluggish, and panel manufacturers hope to provide promotional space for downstream display terminal manufacturers through low prices, stimulating the growth of market demand, but it does not seem to be successful. This will bring greater pressure on panel makers' profitability.
