Mitsui Chemicals Inc. announced that it will manufacture glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene at its Anesaki plant in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The production facility will be a joint venture consisting of Mitsui Chemicals (holding 65%) and Idemitsu Kosan (holding 35%). Prehman Construction, with a design capacity of 3,500 tons/year, is scheduled to be completed in September 2019.
It is understood that the composite material made of a melt blend of polypropylene resin and long glass fiber has a beautiful appearance in addition to its light weight, and has achieved a good balance between hardness and impact resistance. Mitsui Chemicals has developed this product to be used. Unfinished car rear door trim.
Mitsui Chemicals stated that the increasingly stringent environmental protection regulations and the shifting trend of cars to new energy sources have resulted in increasing demand for automotive composite materials. In automotive production, fiber-reinforced resins will increasingly be used as substitutes for metal materials.
