Ams CMV50000 Mass Production of High-Speed CMOS Image Sensors Can Replace CCD Image Sensors

AIM Semiconductor announced that its 48M high-speed global shutter CMOS image sensor CMV50000 for high-end machine vision applications has been mass-produced. This sensor is now available in volume.

The CMV50000 is a 35mm optical size image sensor with a resolution of 7920 x 6004 effective pixels and a pixel size of 4.6μm. It uses a patented 8T pixel architecture to achieve a breakthrough in the performance of CMOS image sensors. The CMV50000 is available in 12 bit full resolution or The binning mode can run at 30fps when outputting 4K/8K resolution, and it can run faster when outputting 4K resolution in sub-sampling mode, up to 60fps.

This means that the CMV50000 can provide a larger surface area detail view for factory automation applications, such as automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment and systems for inspecting mobile phones, tablets, laptops and TV displays. High frame rate and The combination of high resolution enables manufacturers to further increase the productivity of their consumer product assembly plants.

Amish Semiconductor's low-noise pixel structure enables excellent electronic shutter efficiency, while the global shutter operation ensures image-free distortion when capturing fast-moving objects. The sensor has an optical dynamic range of 64dB at full resolution, binning mode The output 4K resolution can reach 68dB. The use of sophisticated new on-chip noise reduction circuits, such as black level clamping circuits, enables them to obtain high quality images in low light environments.

The outstanding performance of the CMV50000 allows manufacturers to use it as a replacement for CCD image sensors that require ultra-high resolution applications. Compared to CCD sensors, CMOS image sensors are easier to integrate into camera systems with higher frame rates and lower power consumption.

The outstanding imaging performance of the CMV50000 was recognized in early 2018. The product was awarded the “Best Breakthrough Development” award at the 2018 Image Sensor Europe Awards at the beginning of the year.

Wim Wuyts, director of marketing for Emerson Semiconductor's image sensors, said: “In recent months, Ems Semiconductor has discovered that the demand for CMV50000, a new automated optical inspection system and vision system design team developed for flat panel display testing, is very strong. CMV50000 It has been fully certified and can be supplied in bulk to manufacturers. In addition, we also provide a complete demonstration system for evaluating the performance of sensors.
