Sun Yueguang Wu Tianyu: The semiconductor industry faces three major changes

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the invention of integrated circuit IC. When attending the speech of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Wu Tianyu, chief operating officer of the ASE Group, said that the semiconductor industry is facing three major changes, but other competitors are facing more challenges than Taiwan, and they hope that Taiwan can maintain its advantages. .

The Ministry of Science and Technology held a press conference today to hold the 'IC60-I see the future' series of events. The Minister of Science and Technology Chen Liangji and the Chief of Administration Xu Youjin presided over the meeting. He also invited industrial heavyweights to the scene, such as the chairman of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association and the president of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Wei Zhejia. , Lu Chaoqun, Chairman of Etron Technologies, Chairman of the Taipei Computer and Computer Industry Association, and Tong Zixian, Chairman of Heshuo Technology, and Xie Qingjiang, Deputy Chairman of MediaTek, and Wu Tianyu, Chief Operating Officer of Sunlight Group.

Wu Tianyu said that the semiconductor industry has developed for decades and will face new competitors, different game rules, and different market dynamics. In particular, there are three major changes that must be taken care of. One is that Taiwan used to think about hardware in one direction. The cost must evolve into a diversified set of solutions. Second, a small amount and a diversified supply of global production patterns must evolve into a variety of customized service models.

Third, Taiwan’s long-standing industrial clustering advantage must evolve into seamless integration with global intellectual property and regional commercial economy.

'This is a challenge for Taiwan Semiconductor, but it is also an opportunity.' Wu Tianyu explained that these changes pose challenges to Taiwan, but Taiwan has a considerable degree of advantage, making these challenges even more challenging for our competitors.

Wu Tianyu analyzed that Taiwan’s semiconductor industry has a complete industrial chain, experienced human resources, and global business partners. As long as Taiwan can maintain its competitive advantage and can play a leading role, it is believed that global business partners will still regard Taiwan as the first choice for cooperation.
