In 2018, Intel Corporation passed half a century.
On June 8, 1978, Intel released the first 16-bit processor, the first x86-based processor 8086, with a manufacturing process of 3.2 microns. It integrates about 20,000 transistors and has an area of about 33 square millimeters. The frequency was only 4.77 at the beginning. MHz, later increased to 8MHz, supports 1MB of memory.
On June 8, 2018, Intel released the Core i7-8086K, a 40-year anniversary of the x86 architecture, manufactured on 14-nanometer process. It has an area of about 150 square millimeters. It has six core twelve threads, and Turbo Boost speeds up to 5GHz. This is also Intel. The first processor in history that can run to 5GHz by default, integrates the UHD 630 core graphics card, and has a thermal design power of 95W.
During the Taipei Computer Show, Intel deliberately put together 8086, i7-8086K two products that were 40 years apart, with a deep sense of history.
