A few days ago, Synopsys demonstrated the prototype platform for the USB 3.2 standard for the first time. At Taipei Computer Show, ASMedia also demonstrated its own USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 PHY physical layer solution.
Xiang Shuo introduced that USB 3.2 uses two USB Type-C Rx/Tx transceiver channels to achieve 20 Gbps maximum throughput bandwidth. Although it maintains backward compatibility with USB 3.1, it still needs a new PHY physical layer to work, and this time only Type-C will be an interface style.
Xiang Xuan perfectly demonstrated the high speed of USB 3.2 20Gbps, but did not disclose much technical details, such as what technology was used.
Xiang Shuo said that USB 3.2 main control will be launched in 2019, but taking into account the adoption of hardware equipment manufacturers, development will take more time, so want to see the USB 3.2 interface equipment, basically have to wait until 2020.
