Samsung feels it! TSMC's 7nm customer orders are substantial: volume production in advance

The new A12 chip, AMD Vega video card, 'Nine Dragons 1000' notebook SoC, 'Kirin 980' and other products, have been sitting or rumored to use TSMC's 7nm process, the number of customers can be said to be substantial.

According to Digitimes, industry chain sources said that due to increased demand from customers such as MTK, Qualcomm, Hass, Xillinx and NVIDIA, TSMC plans to mass-produce 7nm in advance.

In the second quarter, the 7nm production line put into production by TSMC was called N7. The company expects to account for 20% of revenue by the end of the year and 10% for the full year. Meanwhile, TSMC planned N7 Plus and will introduce EUV EUV lithography.

At the most recent investor conference, data provided by TSMC CFO Lora Ho was that in the first quarter of 2018, 10nm occupied 19% of wafer sales, and it is expected that Q4 will be reduced to 10%.

To some extent, TSMC's 10nm is 'short-lived', although there are Apple, Huawei and other big orders, but more customers like the 12nm which is more cost-effective.

As for competitor Samsung, only Qualcomm's Xiaolong 5G chip was confirmed to be manufactured by Samsung 7nm, and other customers were not known.
