According to reports, Japan's Mitsui Chemicals and Japan's Prelmann Polymer Co., Ltd. disclosed in a joint statement on Wednesday that the two companies plan to establish a new company to build a new plastic raw material polypropylene plant in the Netherlands.
Mitsui Chemicals holds 65% of Prelmann Polymers.
The new polypropylene plant will have a capacity of 30,000 tons of polypropylene per year and is expected to be put into production in June 2020.
This new polypropylene plant will be Mitsui Chemical's first polypropylene compound production site in Europe to respond to the growing global demand from the automotive industry.
Polypropylene compounds are thermoplastic resins made from a mixture of polypropylene and various components such as pigments, fillers, reinforcing agents, and impact modifiers.
