Recently, Japanese electronics giant Sharp Corporation will build a second solar power plant in northern Mongolia.
The project leader stated: 'Solar power plant construction will begin in the second half of this year and the project will be completed in the third quarter of 2019.'
Sharp will build the plant together with the local Mongolian partner Darkhan-Selenge Electric Distribution Network LLC.
Mr. BBatjargal, chief engineer of Mongolia Power Company, said that the project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 25,000 tons per year, saving up to 355 million liters of water.
The Mongolian Ministry of Energy said that the landlocked countries in Asia with a population of more than 3 million have more than 250 days of sunshine per year. At the same time, last year the country’s renewable capacity almost doubled to 155 MW.
The Japanese electronics manufacturer installed Mongolia’s first large-scale solar power plant in the province in January 2017 with a capacity of 10 MW. As the second wind farm in the country, the 50 megawatt Tsetsii wind farm was also in that year. Open in October.
Mongolia seeks to provide sufficient heat and electricity for the population, especially in rural areas, while renewable energy projects are considered a solution.
