Facebook Advertising Tool Discriminates Against Older Job Seekers | Multiple Employers Suspended

The U.S. trade union organization 'American Communications Workers' Association said in an updated indictment on Tuesday that Facebook’s ad placement tool discriminated against older job seekers and listed more employers in the situation.

The American Communications Workers Association said: 'Facebook's unique algorithm directs most of the ads to young job seekers and excludes older job seekers, which causes Facebook and advertisers to give job seekers different treatment.'

The class action lawsuit was originally formally launched in December last year. The American Association of Communications Workers updated the indictment today and listed more employers who discriminated against older job seekers. Initially, the defendants of this lawsuit included Amazon, Cox. The Cox Media Group, Cox Communications, T-Mobile, and hundreds of other employers use Facebook advertising tools to filter older job seekers.

Today, the American Association of Communications Workers also listed Ikea, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the University of Maryland Medical System as defendants. The American Communications Workers Association also stated in its updated indictment that When Facebook recruits its own employees, it also filters the age of job seekers.

In response to the lawsuit, Facebook Advertising Vice President Rob Goldman said in a statement last December: 'Facebook just tailored the recruitment ads according to the audience and accused the ads of discrimination. We are completely Opposition.'
