SoDIMM, small dual in-line memory module. It is a type of computer memory module. Compared with DIMMs, SO-DIMMs have a smaller form factor (roughly half the size of normal DIMMs). Therefore, SO-DIMM is mainly used in laptops and other occasions with high requirements for size.
The new memory module has a capacity of 32GB, a frequency of 2666MHz, and is composed of 16 16Gb DDR4 DRAM chips.
Samsung said that the new product replaced the 20nm 16GB SoDIMM module introduced in 2014. The latter's single chip capacity is 8Gb.
Of course, switching to more advanced manufacturing processes and using higher capacity not only reduced power consumption by 39%, but also accelerated the speed by 11%. According to Samsung's official data, the gamebook with 2x32GB of new memory will have lower power consumption. 4.6 watts, idle power consumption will be less than 1.4 watts.
At present, Samsung's 10nm process-level DRAM products have covered the largest capacity 16Gb LPDDR4 memory, GDDR5 memory and DDR4 memory.
